JOINT POSITION STATEMENT: Implementation of taxes on sugar-sweetened beverages in Ghana
This document acknowledges the Government of Ghana's effort for embracing the fiscal policy route toward addressing unhealthy diets and their health consequences. However, while commending the Government efforts, the document also outline gaps in the proposed policy, and offer recommendations for the Government of Ghana to strengthen the policy. These recommendations if implemented, will further contribute to existing social protection programs and promotes tax equity and health equity in Ghana.
